Jazz in the Park at Police Memorial Park

Jazz in the Park at Police Memorial Park or JazzFest was held September 24 2016.

It was a gorgeous evening in this northwest community just south of Centennial Hills, surrounding the  Jazz in the Park at Police Memorial Park or JazzFest. Temperature were around 70 degrees with no wind,  tall pine trees,  picnic areas, fresh cut grass, performance stage, about 200  jazz lovers and of course a food truck with smacks for purchase.

This FREE open to the public concert, Jazz in the Park at Police Memorial Park or JazzFest, recently performed at the Police Memorial Park located at 3250 Metro Academy way which is near the cross streets of W Cheyenne and Haualapi and featured two local jazz bands. The Sharps and the Jozef Bobula Trio on Saturday September 24. Attendees were invited to bring their own lawn chairs, blanketsand enjoy a free evening of jazz music.

The Sharps

Jazz in the Park at Police Memorial Park featured The Sharps trio which include instruments keyboard, drums, and saxophone. The name of the band originally was the band leaders fathers band name. “Keep it in the family he said.”  On a side note, the keyboard sounded like the bass and keyboard were all in one. Double duty. The Sharps ended the concert with a song that resembled “The Flintstones” theme song. A unique twist.

If you are really into jazz, you would have recognized their songs. They also mentioned, it would have been artist John Coltraine’s birthday, September 23, 1926.
